Inizialmente il modulo sembra "muto", e sembra non ci sia alcun modo di ottenere una risposta AT.

Ecco la ricetta per la soluzione:

1. configurare Arduino Uno come semplice cavo USB/seriale (vedi foto allegata) in modo da mandare i comandi direttamente all modulo shield. Per fare ciò:
  1. staccare il modulo Atmega da Arduino Uno (utilizzare delicatamente un cacciavite sforzando entrambe le parti)
  2. Ora collegare i pin 0 ed 1, ossia quelli marchiati RX e TX di Arduino con i pin MRX ed MTX dello Shield del modulo SM5100B-D.
  3. Collegate il pin GND (va bene sia uno dei due posti nella zona "power", sia quello posto nei segnali digitale) al GND dello shield dell' SM5100B-D.
  4. Collegate il pin "Vin" di Arduino (nella regione power) con il "Vin" dello Shield del modulo
  5. Collegate la presa usb ad Arduino Uno, e sulla scheda del modulo dovreste vedere accesi sia il led power che quello GND
  6. Aggiungete ad Arduino una fonte esterna di corrente perchè ilmodulo richiede parecchia corrente. 1A dovrebbe essere sufficiente, ho provato sia con 1A che con 2A.
  7. Se avete l'ultima versione del modulo SM5100B-D, avrete due jumper da impostare. In questa prima fase i due Jumper vanno messi in questo modo: RX/MRX (quello corrispondente a D3) e TX/MTX (quello corrispondente a D2).
  8. Utilizzate un programma di Terminal DIVERSO dal serial monitor dell'sdk di Arduino!!! Ho perso un sacco di tempo prima di capire che non catturava le risposte dal modulo.... Per Mac ho ho utilizzato ZOC (www.emtec.com), per PC mi sono trovato bene con x-CTU.
  9. A questo punto fate patire il vostro programma di terminal preferito, impostate la COM corrispondente al vostro cavo USB di Arduino ed impostate il baud rate a 115200
  10. Date qualche "invio" per vedere se c'è qualche risposta, ma probabilmente sembrerà ancora tutto muto. Per iniziare a vedere qualcosa, togliete e rimettere il GND, in questo modo per alcuni secondi il modulo del Modem invierà sulla seriale un po' di informazioni. Nel mio caso caratteri a caso con alla fine un +SIND 8. Almeno si inizia a ragionare!
